Julie Watson
Certified Yoga Therapist, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, YACEP
Corrective Exercise Specialist, NASM-CES

I’m a Certified Yoga Therapist and functional movement teacher.

I’ve been involved in all types of movement since an early age, practicing yoga since 2000 and teaching for over 16 years. My work is influenced by my interest in anatomy, physiology, and neurology, and I blend modern science and functional movement with traditional yogic wisdom as a holistic integrative approach that supports your health and healing. Together we explore your wellness path, which may not be linear, and we build on what’s working and create a plan to help you feel, move and live better in your body.

“Together we explore your wellness path, which may not be linear, and we build on what’s working and create a plan to help you feel, move and live better in your body.”

I hold a C-IAYT with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. My corrective exercise specialization credential is with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I am also an E-RYT 500 Yoga Teacher and a continued education provider with Yoga Alliance.

My focus is helping others manage pain, stress, and other common conditions, as well as with preventative health and wellness. Along with my private practice and teaching community and corporate wellness, for over 5 years I’ve worked in healthcare as part of a chronic pain care team. From spinal injuries to joint replacements, pulmonary issues to trauma, I’ve taught patients functional movement, exercise, and yoga therapy to better manage their pain, anxiety and depression and to improve their physical function. I also teach group meditation and breathing education and exercise lectures to help improve sleep, mental well-being and brain health.

My work combines postures, movement, corrective exercise, breathing techniques, relaxation exercises and meditation, as well as dietary and lifestyle advice.

Before teaching yoga and movement, I was a project manager and design engineer for 19 years. I began working in the health and wellness field after a surgery that eventually led to chronic pain. Yoga and exercise became the catalyst for healing and change in my life. I now use my experience in management, client service, program development and teaching to help guide my clients and patients. My goal is to empower others to live a better and healthier life.

During my off-time, I enjoy walking/hiking/cycling, good amount of down-time and spending time in the kitchen.
